Change is underway in Collin County

…so it might as well start with us

It was a weeknight. I just watched a project she shared & I reached out to let her know I was  impressed. I took it a step further & said, we need to start our own “thing”. She casually said,  “ok” (I’m sure not clear on what that entailed) but she knew she felt it could be “fire”.

Since I’m “well-seasoned”, yet not too “well done”, I knew our chemistry would be magic. Kind of like when you see that perfect dress you weren’t looking for, but something about it says, I’ve  got to have it. Not because of fads, but, because it is “different”, engaging and kind of off center.

That’s what I felt about my Thriving & Diverse “Sister”. Yep, already certifiably claiming  status. It’s her undeniable commitment to do the “work” as I call it. The tenacity to ask the  questions and inquisitiveness to know the “why” about things.

She’s unsettled about social  injustice, not in the traditional, “oh, I’m so sorry to hear that happened” kind of way. But with intensity, interest, and a feeling of “what are you going to do about it”? And if the answer received  isn’t the right one, she might just challenge you to “think” about it, to come up with a solution.

She reminds me of the energy you stumble upon every now and mostly then. I knew, it was  exactly, the power that compliments my lifelong passion and thirst, for all things “good”.

I’ve  always felt compelled to advocate. I believe everyone is entitled to share. I love to have a good conversation then move to solutions that are beneficial. I’m not interested in shooting the breeze to hear myself talk – well, unless I’m just shooting the breeze. I thrive on call to actions and I easily connect with others placed on earth as vessels to do the “work”.

A lot has transpired since 2020 that has caused the nation to take notice; George Floyd, COVID19,  Asian Hate, unemployment, political discord, bullying, child immigration, economic concerns, low interest rates and vaccinations.

My question: What are you doing since this began and how have you adapted to a world that  continues to throw curve balls? I suspect, if you’re in a bubble, it’s time to pop it and begin the  conversation, see what others are doing, and start some “doing” of your own.

Dorly Roy, who I have known since 2011, is someone I am vibing with in 2021. She and I are Thriving – joining forces with those looking for answers, great discussions, enterprising opportunities, tough conversations, and growth. We understand it means; we’ve got to do the “work”. And to do the “work”, it requires Diverse ideas, people, leadership, creativity, purpose, and partnerships. Not to mention Equitable, Inclusiveness and Belonging.

We’ve got some solutions too! And we’re interested in hearing yours. I hope you’ll join us as we  begin the journey to chat with some of the BEST in Collin County over coffee.
