Dorly Roy is the creative director and founder of Goldenlight Creative, a portrait studio specializing in photographic portraits (yes, including headshots) and impressive oil-painting portraits of business and philanthropic leaders. She continues to serve as the lead portrait artist for the studio and mentors young artists and business owners from all over the country.
“To make someone’s portrait is to truly see who they are, even when they think no one is watching”.
With this talent in “seeing people” Dorly strives to create collaborative environments for people who may traditionally sit on opposite sides of the table. “We have much more in common than we do different”, says Dorly Roy of her diverse group of friends, mentors, clients and community partners.
Dorly has served as a Circle of Red member for the Dallas American Heart Association, Sustaining member of the Junior League of Collin County, sponsor for the Texas Women’s Foundation, and member of the Women’s Auxiliary to Children’s Medical Center Plano.
“I’m also a very proud card-carrying member of both the ACLU and the NAACP”.
Dorly hosts confidence-building and relationship-building retreats for individuals and groups both in her Downtown Plano Arts District studio and in fun destinations such as Malibu, New York, Key Biscayne, and Montreal. In addition to working with adults, Dorly’s studio hosts an annual one-week “model camp” each Summer for young people ages 14-17.
Dorly recently became appointed as a new Board member for the Art Centre of Plano.
